Burung maleo yang ikonik namun terancam punah,<\/span> Macrocephalon maleo, <\/span><\/em> adalah kekayaan alam. Bekerja sama dengan penduduk desa setempat, AlTo bekerja untuk melindungi maleo di tiga lokasi di lanskap Tompotika, menggunakan pendekatan berbasis masyarakat untuk mencegah perburuan dan melindungi maleo di alamnya.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bekerja berdampingan dengan penduduk desa setempat, AlTo berpatroli di pantai-pantai peneluran penyu dan melindungi sarang penyu di dua area utama peneluran penyu di wilayah Tompotika. Tiga spesies penyu bersarang di kawasan ini: Green,<\/span> Olive Ridley,<\/span> dan Hawksbill<\/span> .<\/span> <\/p>\n

Bekerja sama dengan BKSDA, AlTo memprakarsai program penjangkauan khusus kepada para penegak hukum dari semua yurisdiksi yang berbeda dalam upaya memperkuat penegakan hukum satwa liar di Tompotika. Ketika kebutuhan lokal menuntutnya, AlTo memimpin sekelompok kecil wisatawan internasional untuk mengunjungi Tompotika dan membantu proyek-proyek konservasi di sana. Proyek layanan di tahun-tahun sebelumnya termasuk membantu survei ilmiah; melukis mural satwa liar besar di dinding sekolah; membersihkan pantai dari sampah berbahaya, dan banyak lagi. Perjalanan mencakup waktu bekerja berdampingan dengan penduduk desa serta banyak waktu untuk menjelajahi hutan hujan Tompotika, taman karang, dan mengamati satwa liar.<\/p>\n
