The Alliance for Tompotika Conservation / Aliansi Konservasi Tompotika (“AlTo”) is an international partnership founded at the request of local people and dedicated to conserving the unparalleled natural and cultural heritage of the lands and waters surrounding Mt. Tompotika, Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Aiming to “go deep, and do it right” in one special place at the heart of Earth’s biodiversity epicenter, AlTo protects endangered species, tropical rainforests, and coral reefs while promoting the dignity and self-sufficiency of local communities in a changing world.

Effective, creative, and efficient, AlTo works closely with local people on direct, field-based programs to prevent poaching and conserve wildlife, while at the same time sponsoring a broad-based Conservation Awareness Campaign in schools and villages to help build long-term public support for conservation.

AlTo also works with communities to maximize the natural and social benefits that accompany conservation efforts.

In Tompotika and everywhere, AlTo believes that the quality of our human lives is bound up to the health of our natural environment and our relationships to it.
